This year Northern Frontrunners will host their second LGBT 5K Fun Run in Newcastle. Following the success of last years event race organisers are confident of an even bigger and better event. The run is being held to mark the beginning of Northern Pride festival which follows the day after. In 2012 over 23,000 LGBT people descended onto the Pride site to celebrate LGBT life and to promote diversity within Newcastle and the north east generally.

Northern Frontrunners Chair, Steven Duffy said “Last year the run was supported by a huge number of organisations such as Lloyds Mini, Starbucks, Start Fitness, Northumbrian Water, Sandman Signature Hotel and Gary Hedley Hair salons to name but a few. This year the committee have been able to attract new sponsors who are equally as keen to celebrate diversity

The event which will be held on Friday 19th July 2013 on Newcastle’s infamous Town Moor with views over some breath taking scenery and unlike last years course will be non multi lapping and flat…. So expect to knock chunks off your 5K time! The opening of 11 market stalls at 18:00 by a special guest will signal the start of the event giving runners and their friends an opportunity to try some free samples, have their faces painted or simply find out more about services in the community before the start.

Once our runners, joggers and walkers are all assembled the run will begin at 18:45, everyone is encouraged to enjoy it to the best of their ability so if you feel your pooch wants to take part, you want to dress up in something totally bonkers or your aiming to beat last years winners time of 14mins 30 seconds then you know where you need to be!”

Every runner will receive a FREE Goody Bag packed full of lots of exciting treats and official results will be available on-line within 24 hours. After the stalls are dismantled and the Town Moor is re-opened the fun doesn’t stop there. Eazy Street, Newcastle will once again be hosting our After Party where a special presentation of winners cheque’s will take place, but if you didn’t manage to scoop 1st, 2nd or 3rd place you will still receive a complimentary shot and your race number will be entered into a free prize draw to win exciting prizes such as a Mini Cooper for a week or hotel stays at Sandman Signature Hotel

Entry is £10 for non UK Athletics members and £8 for members. Clubs, groups and organisations are encouraged to get involved as cash group prizes are available for teams of 10 or more. You can enter via www.northernfrontrunners.co.uk , look out for the entry forms or request a postal entry.
