Transgender Day of Remembrance

On Tuesday 20th November, Northern Pride will join members of Be: Trans Support and Community, LGBT History Project NE, LGBT+ Northern Social Group, and Trinity Youth, along with individuals from the local trans community, for this years candlelight vigil to mark the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR).

TDOR was started in 1999 to remember those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia, and raise awareness of transphobic violence worldwide. Members of the trans community, along with our friends, families, and allies, gather to mourn those lost over the last year and to support each other.

We will have several speakers, followed by a reading of the official list of names, and a silent vigil. All are welcome to attend.

The vigil will commence from 6pm and will be held at Newcastle Council’s Civic Centre, NE1 8QH. The vigil will end around 7:30 and many of us will be heading to The Yard, Scotswood Road, NE4 7JB
