Your Police and Crime Commissioner is elected by you, the public, to hold the Chief Constable and the force to account. They are your voice in the force, making the police answerable to the communities they serve.
Your PCC is responsible for hiring a chief constable, setting the force’s budget and strategic priorities and overseeing other areas of the local criminal justice system, such as victim support services.
The office publishes regular information to show you how the PCC is performing against election promises, and they are held to account on your behalf by a specialist Police and Crime Panel.
More information on the Northumbria Police & Crime Commissioner, Susan Dungworth, is available here.
